About the Course
This course is designed for novice or young hunters, ages 9 years and above. The course covers the core competencies of firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics and wildlife conservation. All materials are provided. The Hunter Education Classroom Course lasts a maximum of 6 hours of classroom instruction. This time does not include registration, breaks, test administration and certification card distribution. Courses are offered across the state year round and are taught by certified volunteer instructors. The fee for the certification is $15. Some instructors may apply additional charges for the class, such as range or facility fees. Pre-registration is required. Check with the instructor for directions and any special instructions prior to going to class.Be sure to verify with the instructor that the class you are registering for is the Classroom Course.

- Pay the fee to the instructor.
- Attend the entire course.
- Take the written exam and get at least 75% correct to pass.
- Upon successful completion, you may receive a temporary card from the instructor. You may legally hunt with a valid Texas hunting license and your temporary certification card. Your permanent Texas Hunter Education certification card will be available for downloading and printing from your Account Profile.

NO CHECKS AND NO CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS will be accepted. Instructor has no means to run credit cards and checks will not be accepted. Cash only please. Again, please try to have exact change available for the instructor.
Prior to enrollment, you will need to have/create an individual USERNAME AND PASSWORD IN ORDER TO PROPERLY REGISTER FOR THE COURSE. YOU WILL USE THE SAME USERNAME AND PASSWORD TO PRINT OUT YOUR HUNTER'S EDUCATION CERTIFICATE. This will be available upon completion and passing of classroom test. Please allow 24 hours for instructor to post scores to the TPWD Hunter Ed website. The Lake Hills Community Center is the sponsor for this class. All students should pre-register, as the class is limited to 20 students. Late registration will be accepted on Saturday morning if spots are still available. Class will begin at 9:00, and we will take a 30-minute break for lunch. As there are no fast-food places close by to purchase lunch, it is advised that you bring a sack lunch with you. If possible, class will continue through lunch to make best use of our class time.
When you arrive for the course:
- Pay the fee to the instructor. Exact change only please. No checks or debit/credit cards accepted.
- Attend the entire course. Students must be present for a minimum of 6 hours, i.e., the entire course.
- Take the written exam and get at least 75% correct to pass. (Cannot miss more than 12 questions out of 50 on the test.)
