This advanced workshop will develop and enhance the student’s knowledge, skills, and experience hunting white-tailed deer with a handgun. Bring your pistol and 50+ rounds of ammunition. A live-fire exercise will determine the student’s effective range with a handgun. Handgun marksmanship will be taught and reinforced during the class, but if possible, students should practice handgun marksmanship prior to the training. A rest is recommended for distances beyond 15 yards. Please bring shooting sticks if you have a set. A handgun hunt for spike-antlered white-tailed deer will conclude the class (Saturday and Sunday). Large center-fire calibers are appropriate for this hunt (ex. .357 Magnum, 10MM, .44 Magnum, 45 ACP, .45 Colt, and larger). Specialty handguns chambered for rifle calibers are also a good choice. Handguns of appropriate caliber are available for use by students who do not have one. Lodging and meals will be provided. There is a $15 fee for this course. Please bring a bag of corn for use during the hunt.
