About the Course

Anyone born on or after September 1, 1993 who wishes to operate certain vessels on the public waterways of Texas. See Water Safety Act for details. Boating courses are taught by TPWD Boater Education certified instructors, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and game wardens. With more and more people enjoying the lakes and rivers every year, it's important, for everyone, that boaters educate themselves on boating skills and seamanship. Boaters Education parts 1&2 will be offered and the Spring BOW in Brownwood Texas on Saturday 04/22/23.  Attendance in both sessions is required for certification.  Class cost is $10.00 per person, This fee will be covered by Friends of BOW so there is no cost to you!  You are welcome to bring a contained drink and small snack into the classroom.  We will have a morning break and Lunch break. Afternoon session will contain a brief break so you will have plenty of time to finish your assessment exam. Now let's learn how to safely have fun on the water.
