About the Course

Anyone born on or after September 1, 1993 who wishes to operate certain vessels on the public waterways of Texas. See Water Safety Act for details. Boating courses are taught by TPWD Boater Education certified instructors, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and game wardens. With more and more people enjoying the lakes and rivers every year, it's important, for everyone, that boaters educate themselves on boating skills and seamanship. All classes are a minimum of six hours. More questions? Check our FAQ page.
0This is an all-day class put on by America’s Boating Club – the United States Power Squadrons local Houston unit.  You will need to go to the website listed below to pay for tuition and any TPWD fees for this class. Pay tuition of $35 and the Squadron will cover the $11 TPWD fee.  Regester and pay  before the class at  https://americasboatingclubhouston.org/education/americas-boating-course/ - Use the Add to Cart button for the location and date of your class to go to the payment processing part of the web page. This is where you will pay for the tuition. If you want (or must have) the state certification that you passed this course, please use the Register now button on this TPWD page.  While all payments go thru America's Boating Club, it is still necessary to register w/ TPWD if you want their certification.  If you do not register with TPWD before the class, for the state to certify you, we will have to take extra time to register you online during the day of the class. Call Chris Leavitt at 713-517-2204 with questions, such as why it is a good idea for people not subject to the law to also have the state certification.
