About the Course

Anyone born on or after September 1, 1993 who wishes to operate certain vessels on the public waterways of Texas. See Water Safety Act for details. Boating courses are taught by TPWD Boater Education certified instructors, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and game wardens. With more and more people enjoying the lakes and rivers every year, it's important, for everyone, that boaters educate themselves on boating skills and seamanship. All classes are a minimum of six hours. More questions? Check our FAQ page.
The About Boating Safely course is an 8-hour course taught by US Coast Guard Auxiliary Instructors, and is targeted at new boaters, young boaters, hunters, fishermen, personal watercraft operators, and anyone who wants to learn more about recreational boating. Classes are from 8 AM to 5 PM on Saturdays. Contact Michael Ferland at 214-629-4899, cell, or mbferland@sbcglobal.net (Subject; Boating Safely) and Register for this course on this site. Tuition: $25 for the USCG Auxiliary Certificate.  Additional TPW Certificate (required for anyone born after 09-01-1993) is $10
