About the Course

Anyone born on or after September 1, 1993 who wishes to operate certain vessels on the public waterways of Texas. See Water Safety Act for details. Boating courses are taught by TPWD Boater Education certified instructors, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and game wardens. With more and more people enjoying the lakes and rivers every year, it's important, for everyone, that boaters educate themselves on boating skills and seamanship. America’s Boating Course® is the United States Power Squadrons basic boating knowledge course.  It contains the skills you need to know to make sound decisions while boating on rivers, lakes, and coastal regions.  It is offered as a classroom course and taught by a team of volunteer certified instructors.  The fee is $40.00 per student for the text and Texas Parks and Wildlife certification. The fee for a couple with a shared text and certification is $50.00.  Fees are collected at class time. Classes are taught in the Town Hall of Travis County West - Service Center near Mansfield Dam on Saturdays from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
