About the Course

Anyone born on or after September 1, 1993 who wishes to operate certain vessels on the public waterways of Texas. See Water Safety Act for details. Boating courses are taught by TPWD Boater Education certified instructors, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and game wardens. With more and more people enjoying the lakes and rivers every year, it's important, for everyone, that boaters educate themselves on boating skills and seamanship. The Boat America Course is an 8-hour course designed for new boaters, young boaters, hunters, fishermen, personal watercraft operators, and anyone who wants to learn more about recreational boating.  The course is taught by US Coast Guard Auxiliary and TPWD certified instructors.  It does not include any time on the water and students must be at least 12 years old. Classes are from 8 AM to 4 PM with a 30-minute lunch break. Cost is $ 50.00 per person including class materials and TPWD certificate; we will invoice you via PayPal and will accept cash or checks payable to USCGA Flotilla 5-5 on the day of the class.  Please register for the class at least one week before the class date.
