About the Course

Anyone born on or after September 1, 1993 who wishes to operate certain vessels on the public waterways of Texas. See Water Safety Act for details. Boating courses are taught by TPWD Boater Education certified instructors, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and game wardens. With more and more people enjoying the lakes and rivers every year, it's important, for everyone, that boaters educate themselves on boating skills and seamanship. All classes are a minimum of six hours. More questions? Check our FAQ page.
The USCG Auxiliary will present the About Boating Safely course at Andy's Marine on South 23d Street in McAllen, on Saturday April 21st 2018, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  The fees are $50.00, less credit for pre-registration with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.  The Auxiliary will help students who still need to register with TPWD on the day of the class. Students will earn the USCG About Boating Safely Certificate, as well as the TPWD Boater Education Certificate. USCG references will be provided.  Our facilitators are TPWD Volunteer Instructors. Check with your boating insurance provider for possible discounts after you attend the course.  We are grateful to Andy's Marine for hosting us.
