About the Course

Anyone born on or after September 1, 1993 who wishes to operate certain vessels on the public waterways of Texas. See Water Safety Act for details. Boating courses are taught by US Coast Guard Auxiliary, US Power Squadron and trained volunteer instructors, as well as teachers, and game wardens. With more and more people enjoying the lakes and rivers every year, it's important, for everyone, that boaters educate themselves on boating skills and seamanship. All classes are a minimum of six hours. More questions? Check our FAQ page.

Comprehensive Instruction in Texas Boating Safety Education

This official training program is developed to meet the standards for Boating safety education established by Texas. Boat Ed is the only safety course provider that develops print materials on behalf of government agencies responsible for Boating laws and regulations. The Texas Boat Ed Course is approved by the U.S. Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and meets U.S. Boating Education Standards. Texas Boat Ed is also recognized by the United States Coast Guard as meeting the standards of the National Recreational Boating Safety Program.
