About the Course

Anyone born on or after September 1, 1993 who wishes to operate certain vessels on the public waterways of Texas. See Water Safety Act for details. Boating courses are taught by TPWD Boater Education certified instructors, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and game wardens. With more and more people enjoying the lakes and rivers every year, it's important, for everyone, that boaters educate themselves on boating skills and seamanship. All classes are a minimum of six hours. More questions? Check our FAQ page.
Come join us for this Boating Safely Course taught by experienced boaters from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.  After successfully competing this course, you will receive boating safety course completion certificates from Texas Parks & Wildlife and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, both recognized in all 50 states. This course will cover the basics of rules and regulations governing boating, minimum equipment to have onboard, essential navigation rules, operation and trailering of boats and personal water craft (jet skis), and safety on the water.  The beauty of a face-to-face class is that you get answers to your questions right away and benefit from the experiences of your Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors. The class usually lasts 7-8 hours including breaks and lunch. Cost is $25.
