About the Course

Anyone born on or after September 1, 1993 who wishes to operate certain vessels on the public waterways of Texas. See Water Safety Act for details. Boating courses are taught by TPWD Boater Education certified instructors, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and game wardens. With more and more people enjoying the lakes and rivers every year, it's important, for everyone, that boaters educate themselves on boating skills and seamanship. This Power Point Course Presentation is taught by instructors who are certified with Texas Parks & Wildlife and/or Coast Guard Auxiliary 8th CR Divisions 5 & 10. Course subjects cover: Know your boat, Before you get underway, Operating your boat, Navigation rules, Navigation Lights/Sound Signals, Anchoring, PWC Operation, Legal Requirements of Boating, Boating emergencies, Paddle Sports and wrap up with an exam. Cost is $35.00 (This includes the $10.00 TP&WL Lifetime Registration) all books and other material is furnished an no additional cost. Upon completion you will receive certificates for both TP&WL and Coast Guard Auxiliary. An additional advantage of these documents are that some insurance companies will apply 5% discount for each class for a total of 10%. Note at 12:00 break for lunch. Bass Pro has a restaurant next to the class room-Food is very good. And as an added bonus: Bass Pro said after class is finished their Boating Department will certainly have personal available to show you their Power Boats, Paddle boats, Life Jackets and other related Water Sport Equipment. This will be a fun and interesting day!
