Hello, my name is Debbie Ferrell. I work with the Texas Training Crew and will be one of the instructors for our next TPWD Hunter Education class on Sunday July 14, 2019, 10:00am – 5:00pm. Thank you for navigating the TPWD Online Reservation System (ORS) and registering for class. As a reminder, each student must be registered in the ORS. For example, if a parent/guardian and child are attending the class to get Hunter Ed certified, both must register in ORS. If the parent/guardian already has their Hunter Ed certification and wants to stay for class, they are more than welcome to join us (but please be sure the child is registered in their name). The class will be held at Cabela’s, Allen, Texas. The street address for the location is: 1 Cabela Drive, Allen, Texas 75002 Google map link:  https://goo.gl/maps/3PghvuvQzLNqQt4HA Cabela’s doors open at 9:00am.  Please plan to arrive by 9:45am so that we can start class promptly at 10:00am.  When you enter the store, please ask the door greeter or customer service for directions to the classroom.   Cost of the class is $15.00, and is payable by cash, check, or money order.  Electronic debit/credit card payments are available for a $1.00 additional processing fee. If the student is a minor (under 17 years old), an authorized adult must stay long enough to sign the TPWD registration form so that student can participate in the class. Please note that while a student under 9 years old may take the Hunter Education Course, the minimum age of certification is 9 years.  We strongly encourage that any student 13 years of age or younger has an adult attend the class with them. The class begins at 10:00 AM and is 6 hours of classroom instruction including practical exercises in safe firearm handling and obstacle crossing. There is a written exam (multiple choice questions) at the end of the class, and the student must score at least 75% to pass.  We should conclude the class around 4:00 PM. Students are responsible for their own lunch.  There are several options.  Discounted lunches will be available through the Cabela’s deli, students can bring their own lunch, and there are several restaurants nearby.  Please keep in mind, the lunch break is a brief 30 minutes, so plan accordingly so we can keep the class on schedule. Please do not bring firearms or ammunition to class; all class materials are supplied by the instructor. **NO LIVE AMMUNITION IN THE CLASSROOM** If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact myself or Texas Training CREW. Thank you for helping us continue a tradition and heritage of hunting and conservation. We look forward to meeting you on Sunday, July 14, 2019.
