About the Course

This course is designed for novice or young hunters, ages 9 years and above. The course covers the core competencies of firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics and wildlife conservation. All materials are provided. The Hunter Education Classroom Course lasts a maximum of 6 hours of classroom instruction. This time does not include registration, breaks, test administration and certification card distribution. Courses are offered across the state year round and are taught by certified volunteer instructors. The fee for the certification is $15. Some instructors may apply additional charges for the class, such as range or facility fees. Pre-registration is required. Check with the instructor for directions and any special instructions prior to going to class.

When you arrive at the course:

  1. Pay the fee to the instructor.
  2. Attend the entire course.
  3. Take the written exam and get at least 75% correct to pass.
  4. Upon successful completion, you may receive a temporary card from the instructor. You may legally hunt with a valid Texas hunting license and your temporary certification card. Your permanent Texas Hunter Education certification card will be available for downloading and printing from your Account Profile.

Join Texas Training Crew on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Bois D'Arc Creek Cowboy Church in Bonham, Tx at 10 am for those of you that still need to get your Hunter Education Certification. There are 50 seats available for the course. When you register your student, please make sure that you use the students name and date of birth, email address is not necessary for minors, but does require a password. The classroom will be filled on a first come-first serve basis, classes fill quickly.  Please arrive early to sign in, class will start promptly at 10 am Minimum age for certification is 9 years old by the day of the class.  Parents/Guardians will need to fill out paperwork in the classroom before start of class for ALL students under the age of 17. The cost of the course is $15.00 payable prior to the start of the class.  Please bring exact change in the amount of $15.00 the day of the class.  You can pay with $15.00 exact Cash, Check or Money Order.  Payment with Credit/Debit card is accepted with an additional $1.00 processing fee. Instruction time is approximately 6 hours.  There will be short breaks, and a 30-minute lunch break.  Please bring a sack lunch with you.
