About the Course

This course is designed for novice or young hunters, ages 9 years and above. The course covers the core competencies of firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics and wildlife conservation. All materials are provided. The Hunter Education Classroom Course lasts a maximum of 6 hours of classroom instruction. This time does not include registration, breaks, test administration and certification card distribution. Courses are offered across the state year round and are taught by certified volunteer instructors. The fee for the certification is $15. Some instructors may apply additional charges for the class, such as range or facility fees. Pre-registration is required. Check with the instructor for directions and any special instructions prior to going to class.

When you arrive at the course:

  1. Pay the fee to the instructor.
  2. Attend the entire course.
  3. Take the written exam and get at least 75% correct to pass.
  4. Upon successful completion, you may receive a temporary card from the instructor. You may legally hunt with a valid Texas hunting license and your temporary certification card. Your permanent Texas Hunter Education certification card will be available for downloading and printing from your Account Profile.

        HUNTER SAFETY EDUCATION CERTIFICATION 
                                 CLASSROOM COURSE

#1)     Basic Hunter Education / Safety Certification Class
          This is a 6 - 7 hour of classroom instruction & test.  
           It is complete in itself.  (  9 AM to 5:30 PM )

This  include a multiple choice test requiring 75% correct to pass.   That leads to the required certification to go hunting unattended.

Note:    -    Times vary by class size and structure. 
              -    There are NO additional charges / fees for this class.
              -    If your concerned about your child absorbing the material or their test taking,  I recommend using  the On-line as a pre-study / homework.  Then take the Basic classroom version to repeat / reinforce the material and add learning / comprehension.

I truly want everyone of my student to due well / pass the test and I've had good success.

Key points for this class:

A) Please bring pen and notepad for taking notes.
B) Likewise  bring water / drinks for during class.
     We will break for about an hour for lunch. 
     You may bring your  own lunch or go out.
C) Registration for the class is done on-line
      Check-in / payments are made at the beginning of class.
D) DO NOT BRING ANY FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION 
E)  If a student is under 9 years old 
      they must be accompanied at the class.
F) Only those requesting a certificate of completion
     ( Their Hunter ED card )  will be charged for the class,
   
I.E.  Parents are welcome to monitor / audit the class for free.
