About the Course

This course is designed for novice or young hunters, ages 9 years and above. The course covers the core competencies of firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics and wildlife conservation. All materials are provided. The Hunter Education Classroom Course lasts a maximum of 6 hours of classroom instruction. This time does not include registration, breaks, test administration and certification card distribution. Courses are offered across the state year round and are taught by certified volunteer instructors. The fee for the certification is $15. Some instructors may apply additional charges for the class, such as range or facility fees. Pre-registration is required. Check with the instructor for directions and any special instructions prior to going to class.

When you arrive at the course:

  1. Pay the fee to the instructor.
  2. Attend the entire course.
  3. Take the written exam and get at least 75% correct to pass.
  4. Upon successful completion, you may receive a temporary card from the instructor. You may legally hunt with a valid Texas hunting license and your temporary certification card. Your permanent Texas Hunter Education certification card will be available for downloading and printing from your Account Profile.

West Texas Tactical Firearms, LLC will present a TPWD Hunter Education Classroom course for youth, aged 9 through 17. This course is all inclusive and will be completed in one day. Students will receive a temporary Hunter Education card and will be able to print off their permanent cards - usually within 48 hours of class completion. Please avoid using nicknames when enrolling in the class to avoid confusion later on. Instructors can be reached at 325-721-7013 and 325-668-0858. This class will take approximately 6 to 6 1/2 hours to complete. In keeping with state COVID-19 requirements, students are required to wear a mask during this class. Students will not be permitted to enter the building without a mask. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! Please furnish students with a brown bag lunch; as there is nowhere to purchase a lunch. Bottled water will be provided by the instructors.  Cost is $15 cash, paid to the instructors at the door. Please bring correct change. Please contact us if you reserve a seat and then cannot make it. Reservations are mandatory to receive credit for this class.
