About the Course

This course is designed for novice or young hunters, ages 9 years and above. The course covers the core competencies of firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics and wildlife conservation. All materials are provided. The Hunter Education Classroom Course lasts a maximum of 6 hours of classroom instruction. This time does not include registration, breaks, test administration and certification card distribution. Courses are offered across the state year round and are taught by certified volunteer instructors. The fee for the certification is $15. Some instructors may apply additional charges for the class, such as range or facility fees. Pre-registration is required. Check with the instructor for directions and any special instructions prior to going to class.

When you arrive at the course:

  1. Pay the fee to the instructor.
  2. Attend the entire course.
  3. Take the written exam and get at least 75% correct to pass.
  4. Upon successful completion, you may receive a temporary card from the instructor. You may legally hunt with a valid Texas hunting license and your temporary certification card. Your permanent Texas Hunter Education certification card will be available for downloading and printing from your Account Profile.

A Hunter’s Education Classroom Course has been scheduled on May 1, 2021 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Elks Lodge located at 251 N Reagan St, San Benito, TX 78586.  Students will participate in class instruction, hands on activities, safety discussions, and all materials will be provided. There will be a working lunch in which participants will view videos while they eat so please bring a lunch, snacks and a drink. Bottled water will be provided free of charge. Due to Covid protocols all attendees must wear a mask and social distancing will be enforced.  The course fee is $15 and must be paid via Paypal after registering. An additional $3 fee will be added to cover my gas costs. A Paypal link will be emailed to each student for payment. Please provide the email of a parent when registering. Upon successful completion of the course, the student’s profile will be updated in the TPWD database by the instructor and you will be able to print out their certification card from any computer.   If you have any questions, please contact Paul Silva at paulssilva60@gmail.com.
