Amarillo Rifle & Pistil Club hosts Advanced Hunter Ed Safety Program. The program features additional Hands-on Instruction above that mandated in a Short Program. Students will attend six meetings of 2 hours of class room work. This allows the students the time to study the information, outlined, in the book. this allows the time to do hands-on training for those "New" to handling Firearms Safely, as well as letting the Instructors time to impart " Field Safety". An optional, Weather Permitting, 3 hour "Field Day" is included near the end of the course. Having had compass instruction, in the class room, the students will do a compass course at days start. Then they will be divided into groups to do either a Archery review, including crossbow, or a 15 stage " Shoot Don't Shoot course. After that students will shoot .22 target rifles, with Iron Peep Sights, at targets at 50 yards. Then will shoot 20 ga shotguns on " Rabbit Clays". Please Note: Covid 19 Range Rules will be required, these are the same rules mandated by Texas P&W Hunter Ed. All students, as well as, instructors and guests, will be Masked Up in the classroom. Outdoors that is optional. Students will be six feet apart unless they are Family Members living in the same home. Because of the separation needed class will cap at 12 students.
