About the Course

This course is designed for novice or young hunters, ages 9 years and above. The course covers the core competencies of firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics and wildlife conservation. All materials are provided. The Hunter Education Classroom Course lasts a maximum of 6 hours of classroom instruction. This time does not include registration, breaks, test administration and certification card distribution. Courses are offered across the state year round and are taught by certified volunteer instructors. The fee for the certification is $15. Some instructors may apply additional charges for the class, such as range or facility fees. Pre-registration is required. Check with the instructor for directions and any special instructions prior to going to class.

When you arrive at the course:

  1. Pay the fee to the instructor.
  2. Attend the entire course.
  3. Take the written exam and get at least 75% correct to pass.
  4. Upon successful completion, you may receive a temporary card from the instructor. You may legally hunt with a valid Texas hunting license and your temporary certification card. Your permanent Texas Hunter Education certification card will be available for downloading and printing from your Account Profile.

Owners Chad & Valeria McLean and staff are offering their large classroom for a Hunter Education Classroom Course from 10am till about 4pm Saturday March 25. The shooting ranges are open from 9am till about 7pm, students with parents can arrange to practice shooting on one of the firing ranges after class, but not during class time. check with the staff for complete range price rates and range rules or contact Sendero Shooting Sports, 3360 West US Hwy 190 Belton, TX 76513 Phone 254-613-4666, or website senderoshootingsports.com. Parents or guardians of a student are welcome to sit in on the class to help monitor the classroom. Parents do not have to register for the class but can send a text message to instructor about attending for seat arrangement in classroom. Parents are welcome to register and take the course to assure you are certificated. This is a classroom taught course, no live fire instruction. Students must register online to reserve a seat to the class and to be on the classroom roster. If unable to attend, please log back in to cancel your reservation so someone on the waiting list can attend. Students can bring snacks and drinks to the classroom, since we will be instructing thru the lunch period. Cost for the course is $15 cash, please pay cash to the instructors upon arrival. We will be in the classroom during the course period with occasional breaks. No personal rifles, guns or ammo are allowed in the classroom. After class for those that want practice on the gun ranges must pay the range fees to the shooting range staff.
