About the Course
Hunting & Shooting Sports 101 courses including, but are not limited to, Deer, Turkey, Hog, Waterfowl, Dove, Upland Game, Small Game, Western Big Game, Bow Hunting, Black Powder, Crossbows, Basic Firearm, Sporting Clays, Big Bore Rifle, Handgun, Silhouettes, 3-Gun, Trapper Education and Outdoor Survival. These 3-to-8 hour, hands-on seminars and workshops are designed for family members of all ages to learn more about the animals hunted, tools used in hunting and the shooting sports, and where to go in Texas to enjoy these activities. NOTE: Advanced courses do NOT issue the required hunter education certification. However, some advanced courses, such as bow hunter education, may issue separate certifications.Be sure to verify that the class you are registering for is the Hunting 101 Optional Course.

A valid Texas hunting license with a state migratory bird endorsement and a federal waterfowl stamp are required for this hunt. Both can be purchased at your local district office, or most major sporting goods or big box stores.- Hunter's education is required as stipulated by Texas law.
- Minors, accompanied by a licensed adult are not required to obtain hunter education, but highly recommended.
- Learn the basics of waterfowl biology, anatomy, flight patterns and identification.
- Learn the basics of shotgun shooting and firearms safety on the range prior to the hunt.
- Enjoy a day in the field hunting ducks and geese.
- Field dressing lets you learn hands-on the anatomy of your harvest.
- Game Wardens educate participants about proper field transfer, storage and transportation guidelines.
- Game recipes are shared so that your harvest will be enjoyed by friends and family.
- Please do not spend a small fortune 'outfitting' yourself for this hunt. We have blinds both in and out of the water. Waders are recommended, but not necessary (They will keep you warmer). A good pair of gloves, head covering and insulated boots are a must!
