Trapping 101

This is a 'Hands-On' workshop with little 'in the classroom' time.

You'll be in the field setting traps, and learning habitat and predator management.

  • EQUIPMENT: All equipment needed for this weekend is provided. If you have personal trapping equipment, please feel free to bring it.
  • LODGING: This is a rural location, there is no lodging on-site. Tent camping is available. There are NO RVs allowed on premises.
  • WHAT TO BRING: A positive attitude and wanting to learn!  Classes are outdoors and hands-on. Hiking boots are appropriate. Long pants are encouraged to protect you against brush and insects. You should also bring rain gear, insect repellent, shoes you can get wet and dirty, sunscreen, a water bottle, sun- glasses, hat, alarm clock, camera, flashlight and/or headlamp and a personal mess kit for meals and any personal items.  You are camping!
  • MEALS: Meals for this workshop are potluck. With over 50 people attending, please bring items for yourself and some to share. We have a small kitchen to prepare meals and volunteers to cook. Please bring your shareable items to them upon arrival. If you have dietary restrictions, please prepare accordingly.
  • Make sure you bring a personal mess kit for meals. As a ‘Leave no Trace’ agency, we try to limit our environmental footprint. A wash station will be set up for you to clean your kit.
