About the Course

Hunting & Shooting Sports 101 courses including, but are not limited to, Deer, Turkey, Hog, Waterfowl, Dove, Upland Game, Small Game, Western Big Game, Bow Hunting, Black Powder, Crossbows, Basic Firearm, Sporting Clays, Big Bore Rifle, Handgun, Silhouettes, 3-Gun, Trapper Education and Outdoor Survival. These 3-to-8 hour, hands-on seminars and workshops are designed for family members of all ages to learn more about the animals hunted, tools used in hunting and the shooting sports, and where to go in Texas to enjoy these activities. NOTE: Advanced courses do NOT issue the required hunter education certification. However, some advanced courses, such as bow hunter education, may issue separate certifications.

Turkey 101 Workshop will provide participants with knowledge pertaining to turkey, as well as, shooting skills from live fire and pattering of shotguns. TPWD biologist (depending Covid-19)) will be on hand to provide participants with updated info pertaining to turkey, mostly Rio Grande. Half the workshop will be conducted in classroom, while second portion to be conducted outside consisting of Live Fire and Patterning. Please dress for adverse conditions & BE OUTDOOR PREPARED. You will need to bring shotgun (20 ga or larger) along with box of # 4 turkey loads or equivalent. Should everything go according to plan, a random drawing for 4 hunts to be conducted the next morning (3-21-21) for those completing the workshop. Lunch is on your own.
