About the Course

The Internet + Field Course is ideal for those under 17 years of age and adults wanting a more hands-on field and live-fire experience during the basic course. We recommend younger students be accompanied by an adult during the field course. The certification process consists of two parts:

  • Online Course: Complete the FREE TPWD on NRA online course option.
  • Field Course: Attend a course with a TPWD certified instructor. The fee for the Field Course is $15.00. Some instructors may charge additional fees associated with a shooting range or other facility.

ONLINE COURSE: Free Online courses include TPWD and NRA. For TPWD, please print out the results of the FINAL QUIZ. For NRA, please print off the Field Course Voucher. Both allow you entry to an approved Field Course. Be sure to register for a known field course near you prior to taking the online course. Note: If you search a browser for an online course, you may get information about PAY-FOR courses which apply only to those 17 years of age or older.

FIELD COURSE: A Field Course is typically completed in about 4 hours (min.) a discussion of ethics, a skills course and live-fire exercises. You must pre-register for this course, preferably before you complete the free online course.

ARRIVAL: When you arrive at the Field Course:

  • Pay the $15 fee to the instructor. Some instructors may charge additional fees for a shooting range or other facility.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge, skills and attitude.
  • Take the written exam and score at least 75% to pass.

Hunter’s Education Field Courses have been scheduled on April 10 and April 25, 2021 from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Corpus Christi Gun Club at 2832 FM 763 Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. Field courses are not recommended for students under the age of 12. The online Hunter Education must be completed prior to the field course. Student are required to bring the TPWD Final Quiz results (All 10 Chapters) or the NRA Field Course Voucher for admittance to the Field Course class.  Students will participate in a skills course, hands-on activities and a live fire exercise, all equipment will be provided. Students have the option of bringing their own eye and ear protection. The class must have a minimum of 5 students registered and will be limited to a maximum of 16 people due to Covid 19.  All attendees must wear a mask and social distancing will be enforced. The course fee is $15 and must be paid via Paypal after registering. A Paypal link will be emailed to each student for payment. Please provide the email of a parent when registering. If fees are not paid 7 days prior to the class date you will be removed from the roster and a person on the waiting list will be added to the class. Upon successful completion of the course, the student’s profile will be updated in the TPWD database by the instructor and you will be able to print out their certification card from any computer.   If you have any questions, please contact Paul Silva at paulssilva60@gmail.com
