How to Create a Private Course

Private courses are available only to students who have the link, or URL, for the course. Private courses function in the same way as public courses, with the exception that private courses do not appear in search results in the Hunter and Boater Education online registration system. When you create a private course, you must copy the URL or permalink and give it to your students so that they can register for your course.

Follow these steps to create a Private Course

Go to Courses and select Add New Course in the left menu.
Create a course, following the Steps to Add a New Course.
Check the box under Private Course.
Check this box if this course is private. Private courses will not show up on any course listings or search results, but will be available at their direct URLs.
Publish or Update the course to save it as Private.
Important: copy the Permalink. You can share this link with your students, via email or other method. When the permalink URL is entered into a browser’s address bar, it will take the user directly to the course detail page for your course (this is the page you see when you Preview the course as you create it).
NOTE: you can also change a previously-published course from Public to Private, and vice-versa. If you change to Public, it can appear in public search results.
